Kumho will supply its 185/60 R15 size Ecowing ES01 KH27 low rolling resistance tyres for Polos manufactured in Spain.According to Kumho Tyre Australia's national marketing and training manager, David Basha, the Ecowing is the ideal match for the Polo because of its economical and environmental benefits.
"It is a real vote of confidence by VW in selecting Kumho to supply tyres for the Polo and recognises the extensive R&D programs Kumho has invested in to deliver the highest quality tyres," said David Basha.
"The Volkswagen Polo is a great, economical little car and Kumho's Ecowing ES01 KH27 tyre will deliver added fuel savings and a reduced carbon footprint," he said.
An independent economy test staged last year which compared identical cars- one fitted with Kumho Eco-wing KH27s, the other with an equivalent conventional steel radial - showed a five per cent reduction in fuel consumption by using Kumho's flagship Eco tyre.
"That equates to savings of more than $200 a year for the average motorist just by fitting low rolling resistance Ecowing tyres," said David.
Kumho has achieved the fuel saving measures through its new generation silica compound and tread design.
The KH27's rigid centre tread minimizes the amount of energy lost through tyre flexing-reducing the amount of drag and making it more efficient while maintaining high levels of grip.
Three lateral grooves also ensure the tyre maintains stability while providing excellent water channeling to reduce the risk of aquaplaning in heavy rain.
The Ecowing ES01 KH27's innovative construction was recognised in 2013 with a prestigious Rod Dot Design Award.
